With that said, I did manage to get to the Irish Museum of Modern Art. It was a lot of fun! Perhaps the more fun art was getting there, in a taxi with a driver named Gerard O'Toole. The guy was a hoot and could not have been more Irish. Loved it, loved him, great start to the day! Then I saw some very interesting stuff at the museum, including the courtyard. Nothing in Toronto looks like this, and I'm not saying it should, but it's just so different and beautiful and lovely.
(Gareth, have some respect!)
The next set of images will be fun, and some will absolutely be weird! Just peruse, as I did, and enjoy. I've included the name/description plate for some.
You could actually walk on and pick up the rocks on this next one. The wall was lined with instructions of how one could pick a rock. It was pretty fun!
I met a man at Wagamama last night that told me, "When you get into the museum, on the second floor, turn left. You'll see something that you can't unsee. You'll know what I mean."
This was that. It's massive.
You'll be able to tell by the sheer amount of pictures here, that this is my favourite in the museum. Look at the later shots and how clean the lines are. That's very hard to do, and the whole thing is like that!
As I was in this room, a man came in with his 3 year old son, and all I heard, in a hardcore, amazing Irish accent was,"Aaah, look at the carpet... don't walk on it. Ahhh, look at the bowls [there were some in the corner]... don't touch those either." It was hilarious. I laughed for a good five minutes while walking out and down the street to the Guinness Storehouse.
And here that is! Look, I don't drink, and I especially don't drink Guinness, which I believe, in terms of beer, is essentially like drinking a solid mass.
Anyhow, you can't not go to the Guinness Storehouse while in Dublin, so in I went.
I bought myself to little mini Guinness pint glasses with the toucan on them, and then two little treats for my cousins. Just little keepsakes.
From there, I found some wifi near "home", and here I sit writing this post. The plan for tonight is to go back to the place I'm staying and relax, then find some Irish dancing restaurant to eat and watch some tradition happen.
The plan tomorrow is Dublin Castle, Dublin National Gallery, Dublin Library (apparently it's lovely), mail some packages home, and then relaxing and hopefully sleeping before I leave on the bus to the airport at 4am... I'm not being dramatic, that's literally when I catch the bus. I'm not excited.
Anyhow, off to the rest of the day. Until tomorrow!
