3. Brits, Boiling Water and Bandaids.

You guys, I slept 14 hours last night. It was... beautiful. I woke up at 9am, checked email, posted the last post, and then passed out again, during contruction on three of the four sides surrounding me. I woke up at 12pm... like noon! It appears as thought my body needed it, because I've been nonstop since then.

I go to wash my hair, and I find that there is no cold water, at all. Not even from the sink ('cause I was about it dip my damn head in the sink!). I think to myself, "Self, this blows." So, because I don't know how things work in London, and because I'm going out of my way to be non confrontational on this trip, I washed my hair in the boiling water. It hurt my head. My head and my hands. It wasn't smart, but the dude I'm renting from was at work, and I didn't want to call about water. Anyhow, no permanent burns, and it turns out there was a letter in the fridge (which is on the ground at 3' high) saying that the building turned off the cold water for the day. I found this out after emailing the dude from the place I'm staying, so I should be all good tomorrow.

After the burning of Hayley, I did some Londony things!

First, I decided to venture out in the drizzle, with my umbrella in hand. I made my way to the London Eye, this giant ferris-wheel with huge tube things for large groups of people to sit in. I did not sit in it. It's terrifying. Some pictures below though, of other people who aren't little scared, childlike people like me. Also, this is not a black and white photo... this was the weather!

While I was sitting there, I realized I hadn't eaten in 17 hours, so grabbed what I called a hotdog, but was actually called a "sausage" (dudes, it was not a sausage as we know it in Toronto streetmeat, but rather a long campfire hotdog as we know them), on a baguette. It was made of some meat, though I couldn't venture a guess as to what type. Anyhow, that filled me for a while, as is at on the patio with my umbrella over my head, watching all types of people, not in a creepy way... probably.

Once the rain let up for a bit, I walked over to Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. I walked about for a couple of hours, and that's where the Bandaids came in. I wore the wrong shoes yesterday and they did some damage. Not a ton, but enough that it changes the way my one foot works. I hate feet. Sorry for the talk of feet for those who share the hate. Anyhow, six Bandaids later, I'm still out and about, and it's still a crappy thing, but hell, at least it because I'm walking in awesome London.

After I came up with a Bandaid solution, I decided it was time for some more food. I didn't have a lot, but went to a place called Pret a Manger, and had a hummus and cucumber wrap with a delicious berry, vitamin infused smoothly. It was a very, very healthy choice, given the other options I had. And yeah, I'm looking for your approval on that! :D

From there I walked to the Trafalgar Square. What a beautiful area! I figured that since I was right there, I should take a break from the rainy bits and wonder around the National Gallery. You guys, it's free to get in. At all times. Hey AGO, get with it. You're asked to donate £4, but even at $8, that a fraction of what the AGO charges, which is currently at $19.50. Yeah, I did just look it up to make the point.

Canada! REPRESENT! And also a blue rooster... cool.

That all took me past dinner time, so it was time for food. My favourite past, present and future time. See what I did there?

Yeah.

Anyhow, there was a place on my list that I wanted to eat at, called Wagamama. It's Japanese food, though I would say it had a bit of a twist of some sort. I had two sided for my meal. The first was Lollipop Prawn Kushiyaki, and the second was Mushroom Onigiri. Loved the prawn, didn't love the mushroom. It wasn't terrible, but didn't blow me away like the prawn.

The service there was amazing. Right from the second I walked in, the guy asked me how many and I was second in line. They multitask like a mofo. Also, we chatted for a bit and he quickly realized that it was my first time there, so at the end of the meal he brought me a free dessert, which was made of mango cheesecake, chocolate cake, and what I think he called a ginger cheesecake... not sure. Delicious!

Yummm!

Right, so there are some fun places that I went that don't really fit the above stuff, so I'm just going to run a string of random. Enjoy!

This, I am obsessed with. I mean, you guys. Graffiti and fun type!

We have a hub in London! A pub hub!

I had some delicious mango, mouse, strawberry, pistachio, sponge, white chocolate thing here (half of which is sitting on my dresser, waiting for its sweet, sweet death by mouth). Sweet. Mother. Of. All. Things.

Alright, time to do some relaxing, but I'll be back at it tomorrow. I don't know what my plan is, but if it's anything like today, I'm pretty damn excited!
